If you would like to join Team-XBMC and thus the official XBMC development team (and become a official-member of The XBMC Project) then please just go right ahead and start coding (ex. new features/functions) on your own (but request help via the community-forums or #xbmc on Freenode IRC if you need assistance), then submit your patch/patches. If you thus prove that you are skilled enough (this will be judged by the quality, size and/or quantity of the patches you submit) we at Team-XBMC will contact you directly and ask if you like to officially join our development-team (no strings attached other than that you behave others like you yourself want to be treated). The reason for this process and you not being able to officially join the XBMC-team right away without proving yourself is that we have had too many people asking to join our team without credits and after joining they did not contribute anything at all.

Note! You do not of course have to aim to officially join if you don't want but instead simply have fun helping and contributing to the project.
