RSS Client
Author: Pieh

Type: Program

Repo: Pieh Repository

Summary: RSS client
Home icon grey.png   ▶ Add-ons ▶ RSS Client

Script allows to navigate through RSS feeds and read them. Able of displaying attached media: single images, multiple images (as slideshow) and videos.

XBMC does not have the built-in capability to read RSS feeds, however add-on allows you to navigate through RSS feeds and read them. The add-on is capable of displaying attached media: single images, multiple images and videos. Unfortunately this add-on is not actively mantained, but it works on XBMC 10.1. You can read the forum thread where the project started.

RSS parsing is not robust as it should be: several feeds are not parsed at all (e.g. slashdot.org) and sometimes the script breaks the XBMC interface, disabling the ESC and the backspace key.

Installation and configuration

You must add the pieh Add-on Repository downloading the zip file and selecting System, Add-ons, Install from zip file. After that, you can install the script via System, Add-ons, Download Add-ons.

The script gets RSS feed from the ones configured into the userdata/RssFeeds.xml configuration file. You can also use the RSS Editor add-on to edit that file.
